The Incarceration to Education Coalition protests NYU’s dining contract with Aramark
The Incarceration to Education Coalition occupied the Kimmel Center steps Wednesday afternoon to push the university to end its contract with Aramark, a food services provider, most known for its affiliations with private prisons. Last February, NYU and Aramark gained national media attention for serving a racist meal for Black History Month in the Downstein dining hall. Student activist groups such as the IEC, Black Student Union and NYU Divest protested then — and as the deadline looms closer, they hope the university administration will consider a change.
