Hey! I'm Izzie, a journalist and editor in Brooklyn.
Most recently, I was a deputy editor of Future Perfect, Vox’s section on the myriad challenges and efforts in making the world a better place. There, I produced the twice-weekly newsletter and edited stories on global poverty, public health, philanthropy, progress, artificial intelligence, food systems, and the future of well-being.
A throughline in my work is fostering young talent and paying it forward. As such, I oversaw the Future Perfect fellowship program, developing the next generation of thoughtful reporters through a tailored curriculum and multimedia stretch opportunities. Before that, I served as the managing editor of Spoon University (a publication geared towards college foodies).
I quit my job at Future Perfect in February 2026 to start something new. I'm in stealth mode, building a media startup, combining longform journalism, interactive storytelling, and vertical video for the next generation of readers. More soon, I promise! You can read more about this shift in my behind-the-scenes Substack, Training Arc.
When I write — which I’m doing a lot of these days as a freelancer — I specialize in features that unravel the important but hidden systems that underpin what we eat, drink, watch, and buy. Usually those stories touch on consumerism, food systems, public health, science and tech, pop culture, and identity. You’ve probably seen my work in Atmos Magazine, Vice, Bitch Media, Gothamist and Jezebel.
Now for the long-winded stuff: I graduated from New York University with a double major in Honors Journalism and Global Liberal Studies (Politics, Rights, and Development), and a minor in Integrated Digital Media, or what I like to call “Diet Design and Code.” Phew. Okay. I am also an alumna of Columbia’s rigorous mid-career science journalism program, where I studied Indigenous rights, food ecology, and land management. Please do not ask me about my three theses!
Beyond writing and editing, I see myself as more of a product design thinker. Talk to me about newsletter design, improving UX/UI interactions for news audiences, and the future of interactive storytelling. Or you could do the less-work-related thing and reach out to gab about Bad Bunny, Formula 1, anime, pottery, marathon running, muay thai, or weightlifting. That’s your prerogative.
